Ancient Rome was the seat of a vast and varied empire spanning across most of continental Europe, Britain, western Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and the islands of the Mediterranean. It was an empire that endured for more than a thousand years, and its influence, especially on western culture, can still be felt everywhere – in our political systems, our laws, our calendar, our architecture, the planning of our cities, in the Romance languages of Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian, and in our alphabet. Rome has left an indelible mark on the world. Imagine you had the chance to hold sway over ancient Rome. Given unlimited power over Rome’s vast territories and its 90 million or so inhabitants, how would you leave your indelible mark on civilisation? What would be your leadership style? Which Roman emperor would be the closest match to your personality? Whose mentality would be your closest inspiration? Would you have the charisma, boldness, and ambition of Julius Caesar (100 BC – 44 BC), or the tact, diplomacy, and aversion to risk of Antoninus Pius (86 – AD 161)? Or how about the seriousness and self-restraint of Caesar Augustus (63 BC – 14 AD)? Or perhaps you prefer the more exuberant and affable approach of Trajan (53 – 117). Whichever Roman model your leadership style approach follows, your empire and, indeed, all of world civilisation are relying on you to make your mark on history. Take our fun quiz and find out who’s your ancient Roman spiritual ancestor.
